Gold Mixteco Cichlid

Aquarium setup: They are best kept in a large aquarium with plenty of hiding places among rock and bogwood. These fish should only be kept with hardy plants planted so that their roots are covered with stones since this species likes to dig.

Feeding: Will accept pellets and flake food.

Breeding: Gold Mixteco are substrate breeders. They lay their eggs on an in advance cleaned flat surface. The female guards the eggs and fry while the male guards the breeding territory. The hardest part when breeding this speciesis usually to get a pair to establish. This species reaches sexual maturity late.
